LONDON — UK artificial intelligence company CuspAI has secured $450 million in Series B funding, marking one of Britain's largest technology investment rounds of 2026 and reinforcing the country's growing position in global AI innovation. The investment includes backing from the UK government, leading venture capital firms and Jeff Bezos' investment fund.

Based in Cambridge, CuspAI is developing AI systems capable of discovering entirely new materials that could accelerate advances in semiconductors, batteries, carbon capture and clean energy technologies. The company says its platform combines generative AI, scientific simulation and laboratory validation to dramatically shorten the time needed for materials research.

Alongside the funding announcement, CuspAI launched its AI Materials Foundry, a global collaboration involving more than 45 industry and research partners to speed up innovation in advanced materials. The company plans to expand operations across Europe, the United States and Asia-Pacific while increasing investment in research and engineering talent.

Technology analysts say the investment highlights growing international confidence in Britain's AI sector and its ability to commercialise cutting-edge scientific research. The funding is expected to strengthen the UK's position as a leading hub for artificial intelligence and deep-tech innovation.
