London councils have seized at least 3,393 dockless e-bikes so far in 2026, as complaints grow over bicycles being abandoned on pavements, roads and other public spaces. The figure is already 23% higher than the total seized during 2025.

Rental operator Lime accounted for more than 2,000 of the reported seizures, while Forest recorded 978 and Voi 103. The figures were collected through freedom of information requests from London authorities.

Campaigners say poorly parked e-bikes can create serious problems for blind and partially sighted people, wheelchair users and older pedestrians, while operators argue that designated parking capacity has not kept pace with growing demand.

The issue comes as London prepares for a more unified approach to dockless e-bike regulation. New licensing powers are expected to give Transport for London greater control over parking, safety and accessibility standards.
