Labour MP’s Legal Challenge Against xAI Draws New Claimants Over AI-Generated Sexualised Content

Fresh claimants are reportedly preparing legal action against Elon Musk’s AI company xAI after Labour MP Jess Asato launched a landmark case over sexualised content generated using the Grok AI chatbot.

Several individuals contacted Asato’s legal team following news of her lawsuit, which alleges that xAI enabled the creation and spread of fake and degrading images and videos without consent. The MP claims AI-generated content included fabricated bikini images and manipulated videos that she described as deeply distressing and harmful.

Ravi Naik, legal director at law firm AWO, said multiple individuals are now exploring legal action over non-consensual content created through Grok. According to him, many victims faced difficulties getting images removed from X until they obtained legal assistance.

The case is being described as a major legal test around AI accountability, focusing on whether companies developing artificial intelligence tools should be held responsible for how their systems are designed and deployed.

The legal filing argues that xAI breached privacy rights and data protection laws by allowing such material to be generated. Researchers previously reported that a viral trend earlier this year resulted in millions of sexualised images being created through Grok, prompting concerns about the platform’s safeguards.

Following criticism, xAI reportedly introduced restrictions, including placing some image-generation capabilities behind a paywall and tightening controls on sexualised content requests.
