Breaking: Police Confirm Tragic Update After 48-Hour Search for Missing Mackenzie Swift
Police have confirmed the discovery of a body following an extensive 48-hour search operation for Mackenzie Swift in the River Don near Mexborough.
Emergency services launched a major search effort after Mackenzie was last seen entering the river on Ferry Boat Lane on Saturday evening, with concerns raised when he did not reappear. The operation, which involved specialist teams, underwater search experts, and rescue volunteers, concluded shortly before 11pm on Monday.
Authorities said Mackenzie’s family has been informed of the development and is receiving specialist support. Formal identification procedures are expected to take place in due course.
Chief Superintendent Pete Thorp, Doncaster’s district commander, expressed condolences on behalf of everyone involved in the search operation, extending sympathies to Mackenzie’s family, friends, and the wider community affected by the tragedy.
Officials also highlighted the scale of the multi-agency effort, thanking emergency service partners and volunteer teams who assisted throughout the search. Special recognition was given to Woodhead Mountain Rescue volunteers for their contribution and dedication during the operation.
