Engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have announced a breakthrough in solid-state battery technology that could fundamentally transform the electric vehicle industry and consumer electronics within the next five years.
The new battery design, described in a paper published in the journal Nature Energy, uses a proprietary ceramic electrolyte that eliminates the flammability risks associated with current lithium-ion batteries.
