South Korea is stepping up its artificial intelligence ambitions after securing access to Anthropic’s cybersecurity-focused AI model, Mythos, through a new international collaboration initiative.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on Wednesday that the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) joined Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, a program designed to use advanced AI systems to identify and address cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
According to the ministry, officials have maintained ongoing cooperation with Anthropic to strengthen South Korea’s cybersecurity infrastructure and expand the use of frontier AI technologies in critical sectors.
The announcement follows reports that Anthropic plans to broaden access to its Mythos model to around 150 organizations across more than 15 countries. Several major South Korean companies, including Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and SK Telecom, are reportedly among those expected to participate in the expansion.
While Samsung declined to comment, SK Group companies did not immediately respond to media requests regarding their involvement.
South Korea’s government said it plans to continue investing in AI-powered security technologies and expand partnerships that strengthen domestic information security capabilities as cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated.
