Two young women have been arrested after a child was seriously injured following a fall from a first-floor window in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to Spotland Tops in Rochdale at around 4.16pm on Saturday after receiving a concern for the welfare of a child. Emergency services attended and the child was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police later arrested two women, aged 19 and 20, at a property in Blackburn on Sunday. They were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury to a child.

Reports indicate that the child fell from a first-floor window, although police have not provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
