The United Kingdom is entering what military leaders describe as one of the most challenging security periods in recent history, according to Air Chief Marshal Richard Knighton, the UK's Chief of the Defence Staff.

Speaking about growing global tensions, Knighton warned that Britain faces increasing threats from hostile states and emerging security challenges. He highlighted concerns over cyber-attacks, technology theft, sabotage attempts, and other activities designed to test the UK's resilience and defence capabilities.

Knighton said Russia continues to challenge Western security through a range of actions aimed at probing vulnerabilities and creating instability.

The military chief stressed that the current international climate requires Britain to adapt its priorities and strengthen its preparedness for potential long-term conflicts. He described the present situation as the most dangerous period he has experienced during his professional career.

The warning comes as the UK government continues to review defence spending, military readiness, and national security policies amid rising geopolitical tensions across Europe and beyond.
