The UK Government has launched Get Tech Certified 2026, a new technology skills programme offering free digital learning and recognised certifications to people working across the UK public sector.
The programme went live on 1 October 2026 and covers key technology areas including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data, software engineering, FinOps and quantum computing.
The initiative is designed to help public-sector workers develop practical digital skills while supporting organisations facing growing demand for technology expertise. The learning offer is available from 1 October through 31 December 2026.
The programme includes recognised certification opportunities and learning pathways for people who are either entering technology roles or looking to strengthen existing digital expertise.
The UK Government Digital and Data Hub says the initiative includes opportunities across AI, cloud, cyber security, data and software engineering, reflecting the expanding technology requirements of modern public services.
The launch comes as demand for technology and cybersecurity skills continues to evolve. Separate government research published in September found that 70% of UK cybersecurity firms reported staff using AI in their daily work, while 73% expected their need for AI skills to increase over the following year.
Get Tech Certified 2026 is therefore positioned as part of a wider effort to strengthen digital capability across the UK public sector as AI, cloud computing and cybersecurity become increasingly important to technology-driven services.
