Police have issued an urgent safety warning after children were reportedly seen playing near a Leicestershire lake described as dangerous despite its calm appearance.

The warning follows reports of young people gathering around Albert Village Lake near Boothorpe, prompting concerns from officers about the risks associated with open water during warmer weather.

Authorities described the lake as “very cold, deep, and unpredictable,” warning that conditions beneath the surface can quickly become hazardous even when the water appears safe from the shore.
