First Look Inside the New Mersey Ferry as Royal Daffodil Is Officially Handed Over
The first images from inside the new Royal Daffodil have been revealed, giving passengers an early look at the first new Mersey Ferry to be built in more than 60 years. The unveiling marks a major milestone as the vessel is officially handed over ahead of entering service later this year.
Built by Wirral-based shipbuilder Cammell Laird, the ferry has now been transferred to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, marking an important step in the delivery of the long-awaited addition to the Mersey Ferries fleet.
Newly released images showcase a modern and spacious interior designed to deliver a premium passenger experience. The main deck features a contemporary lounge area that doubles as a flexible event and function space available for private hire, while the vessel’s updated bridge and open deck areas highlight its modern design approach.
The Royal Daffodil has been designed with comfort and leisure in mind, featuring open-plan decks, upgraded seating areas, and bar spaces that encourage passengers to enjoy panoramic views across the River Mersey during their journey.
Beyond daily passenger services, the ferry has also been designed as a floating venue, with dedicated event spaces capable of hosting conferences, corporate functions, and private celebrations in a unique waterfront setting.
Accessibility has played a central role throughout the project. The ferry includes a fully accessible interior and a dedicated lift connecting decks, helping ensure all passengers can comfortably enjoy the vessel’s facilities and views.
