A 27-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal road crash in Linlithgow, West Lothian, in which a 48-year-old pedestrian died.

Emergency services were called to Main Street in Linlithgow shortly after midnight on Sunday, following reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

The 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Scotland subsequently appealed for information and footage from members of the public as officers worked to establish the circumstances of the collision.

Police said a Renault Clio was reportedly involved in the incident, and officers are seeking information about the vehicle and its occupants.

On Monday, Police Scotland confirmed that a 27-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the crash. Enquiries remain ongoing.

The investigation is continuing as detectives work to establish exactly what happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.
