CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UK — Two men arrested after being found inside the perimeter of RAF Molesworth, a military airbase in Cambridgeshire used by US forces, have been released on bail as a counter-terrorism investigation continues.

The men, aged 32 and 36, were arrested in the early hours of Thursday, 8 October. British counter-terrorism police are investigating why they were at the site and whether their presence was connected to any criminal activity.

Reports said an abandoned vehicle and a hole in the base’s perimeter fence were discovered before the arrests. Police also searched two properties in nearby Peterborough as part of their enquiries.

RAF Molesworth hosts US and NATO intelligence-related facilities, making the incident a significant focus for military-site security investigators. Authorities have not publicly established the men’s motive.

Police have stressed that there is currently no indication that the Molesworth incident is linked to the separate investigation involving RAF Fairford. The men’s release on bail does not mean the investigation has concluded.

The inquiry remains ongoing, with investigators examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged trespass and any potential criminal connections. No conclusion about the men’s intentions has been announced.
