Russia has summoned Britain's chargé d'affaires in Moscow to formally protest what it described as the UK's increased military support for Ukraine, marking another escalation in already strained relations between the two countries.

Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Friday that it had called in Danae Dholakia, Britain's chargé d'affaires, over London's continued supply of military equipment to Kyiv.

The UK has maintained its support for Ukraine and said it remains committed to providing the country with the equipment it needs for its defence. The diplomatic dispute comes as UK-Russia relations remain severely strained, with Russia currently without an ambassador in London.
