Airbus is expanding its aircraft manufacturing operation in north Wales, with the company planning to increase its workforce at the Broughton facility by nearly 900 jobs.

The expansion is being driven by strong demand for the Airbus A321 aircraft, including its long-range A321XLR model. Airbus is also preparing to repurpose its West Factory at Broughton for A321 wing production.

The company currently employs around 6,000 people at the Broughton complex and plans to recruit about 430 additional workers initially, with further workforce growth expected next year. Overall employment could rise by almost 15%.

Airbus is also investing around £150 million in the Broughton plant as it increases production capacity. The move comes as the manufacturer works through a backlog of almost 5,500 A321 aircraft orders.

The expansion is expected to strengthen north Wales' role in the UK's aerospace manufacturing sector and support additional activity across the wider aircraft supply chain.
