Nokia Defense and UK technology company C3IA have signed a memorandum of understanding to support the digital transformation of UK defence operations.

The partnership will focus on secure communications, private 4G and 5G networks, command-and-control systems, sensors, autonomous systems and edge computing. The companies say the aim is to strengthen connectivity and interoperability across modern defence operations.

The agreement builds on both companies’ participation in the UK Ministry of Defence’s Tactical Communication Systems (TacSys) framework, which supports the procurement of communications technology for defence requirements.

The collaboration will cover multiple operational areas, including land, air, maritime, cyber and space, with an emphasis on resilient information sharing and network connectivity.

The announcement was made at the 2026 Defence Vehicle Dynamics event, highlighting the growing role of advanced telecommunications and digital technologies in UK defence modernisation.
