A man has been charged with murder after the body of 52-year-old Ali Barzai was found partially inside a wheelie bin in Plymouth, prompting a major police investigation.
Devon and Cornwall Police said Mr Barzai was discovered in a service lane off Grand Parade in the Plymouth Hoe area at around 6.40am on Wednesday, 21 October. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mohamed Abotaka, 36, has been charged with his murder. Police believe the two men may have known each other, but investigators have not confirmed a motive.
Detectives have carried out witness interviews, CCTV enquiries and searches as part of the investigation. Police have also asked members of the public not to speculate about the case or share material online that could prejudice legal proceedings.
Anyone with relevant information, images or footage can contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101, quoting reference 50260282293, or pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the charge is an allegation that must be tested through the criminal justice process.
