The National Gallery’s upcoming “Renoir and Love” exhibition has broken the gallery’s advance box-office record, with 22,033 tickets already booked ahead of its London opening.

The exhibition, which opens on 3 October 2026, will bring together major works by French Impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, including Dance at the Moulin de la Galette, which will be displayed in the UK for the first time.

The show features works from international museums and private collections and explores Renoir’s paintings of love, friendship, family life and social interaction during the 1860s to 1880s.

The National Gallery said the advance bookings have surpassed the comparable figure for its 2024 Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers exhibition. The Renoir exhibition will run until 31 January 2027.

The exhibition will also extend beyond the gallery through a large-scale Renoir mural on Carnaby Street, bringing one of the artist’s best-known works into a public London setting.
