Flights across parts of the UK are facing delays and cancellations after a fresh air traffic control technical fault affected services on Monday.

The disruption is centred on the NATS control centre at Prestwick in Scotland, with airports in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland among those affected. NATS said engineers are investigating the problem and that the latest incident is separate from an earlier disruption this month.

At least 24 flights have been cancelled, while other services are experiencing delays. British Airways and easyJet are among the airlines affected, with passengers advised to check directly with their airlines before travelling.

The disruption comes less than two weeks after another NATS technical problem caused widespread delays at major UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted.

The latest outage has renewed attention on the resilience of Britain's air traffic control infrastructure. Airlines are monitoring the situation as engineers work to restore normal operations.

Passengers travelling through affected airports are being advised to check their flight status and allow additional time for their journeys.
